Children's Therapeutic Dance Group

Service Description

This 50-minute group class merges dance and occupational therapy techniques to promote sensory integration, self-regulation, motor development, and social skills. We combine elements of sound, sight, touch, smell to improve children's ability to effectively process and respond to sensory input. We aim to strengthen proprioception (awareness of our body position), kinesthesia (awareness of how our body moves), interoception (the ability to sense internal signals from our bodies that tell us when we feel hunger, pain, the need to go to the bathroom, and even our emotional states) through dance and play to increase children's self-awareness, confidence, and functional independence.
